As president of the Firth Park Academy debate club, the 15-year-old has recruited all of its current members and has been key in encouraging them and moulding them to become be great debaters.

Every week, Nura leads debates at the school and always make time to help any students she thinks need a little extra time and attention.

Her principal, Dean Jones, who nominated her for the award, says her enthusiasm is bringing the debate club far, and he’s thrilled with the opportunity to give her the recognition she deserves.

Dean said: “Nura is a gold learner, she has 100 per cent attendance, no lates and tons of achievement points - she’s about as close to perfect as you can get.

“She’s also on track for A* in English, which I think it really impressive to say English is not her first language. Nura leads our weekly debates, identifies what her fellow students need to work on and is never short of words of encouragement.

“Her intelligence and zeal truly are inspiring and I’m so thrilled Nura won this award. I’d like to say a big thank you to her for all she does at school.”

Nura received the Special Award at the Superkids ceremony last week, which was presented to her by associate sponsors Outwood Academy City.
