The cheque was received by Dame Vera's daughter, Virgini, received the cheque for her mother's charity, that offers support and therapy to children aged under five years old, and their families.

Lorrie said: '˜While we were there they showed us around to see the work they do, and there were a few children attending, receiving therapy while we were there.

'Their parents said how much of a help it had been in both helping their daughter and as support for themselves.

'It was an amazing place and so rewarding to see where the money raised is actually making a difference to these children's lives'.
