Stan the campervan, who appeared in this is England 90, stolen from heartbroken owner's driveway

A much-loved campervan, which made a cameo appearance in a hit TV show, has been stolen from its owner's driveway.

Stan the blue VW campervan, has been part of heartbroken Jenny Potter’s family for almost a decade and appeared in This is England 90.

The 31-year-old, of Broomhall, said that she had been out in Manchester for the evening to find ‘he’ had been stolen from her driveway where the van had been parked.

Ms Potter bought the 1972 bay window crossover VW on a whim from Ebay - before she could even drive and has travelled through the UK and France in the vehicle.

Stan even has his own Facebook page so he can keep his friends updated about his adventures.

The van appeared in This Is England 90, despite the production team saying Stan was ‘too clean’ to be on the show.

Ms Potter said: “But they just fell in love with him so much they wanted him anyway. So they painted a rust effect on him which took four people two days to get off. I just thought it would be in the background somewhere. But the ‘Hero’ image they used everywhere for the 90’s one always had Stan in the background.”

She added: “He has got his own personality. Not to sound cheesy but I’ve had so many adventures with him. He is a big part of everything I do. And all my future plans revolve around him. I was going to take him to Calais to try and help out as I had driven through before and I was going to go round Europe in him. I’ve had him longer than I care to think about and it’s like he is a part of my family.”

Her pleas to find Stan on social media have been shared hundreds of times and Ms Porter has thanked Sheffielders for their help so far.

People are being so nice about it, saying I hope you find him and I hope he comes back. All these strangers have been trying to help me which has been great.”

If you see Stan please call police on 101 and quote the incident number 1272 of February 16.
