Sheffield businesswoman Heather Tingle was joined by Nick Clegg to celebrate after her post office was named the best in Yorkshire.
Heather, who runs Lower Bradfield Post office and Flask End shop and tea room, received the honour from the Countryside Alliance.
The campaign group runs annual awards for ‘unsung heroes who routinely go above and beyond the call of duty for their communities’.
Heather said: “It was great to welcome Nick to our post office to help celebrate winning the award.
“We are committed to being friendly, convenient and keeping Flask End as a community resource.”
Deputy Prime Minister and Sheffield Hallam MP Mr Clegg said: “The Bradfield area is quite rightly recognised as being one of the most picturesque places in Sheffield.
“Now that the post office has been officially recognised as the best village post office in Yorkshire, there are even more reasons to visit what is one of my favourite places.
“I was particularly impressed by the post office tearoom and village shop selling local produce. It’s clear the post office is an integral part of village life and everyone involved deserves a huge amount of credit.”
A Countryside Alliance spokesman said: “The Countryside Alliance Awards are a unique annual celebration of rural life, produce and communities.
“Nicknamed ‘The Rural Oscars’, these awards are broad in scope, highly coveted and a great morale boost to those in the running.
“The Countryside Alliance is the leading voice of rural Britain, and our awards complement our wide ranging support and promotion of rural life.
“The scheme aims to support and promote rural communities and to acknowledge the efforts of thousands of unsung heroes who routinely go above and beyond the call of duty.”
