It's been announced by Sheffield Theatres this week as the final show to complete the 2018/19 Crucible season.

Life of Pi comes to the Crucible theatre from June 27 to July 20.

After a cargo ship sinks in the middle of the vast Pacific Ocean, there are five survivors stranded on a single lifeboat '“ a hyena, a zebra, an orangutan, a 16-year-old boy and a hungry Bengal tiger.

Time is against them and nature is harsh, so who will survive?

This new stage adaptation by Lolita Chakrabarti of Yann Martel's Man Booker Prize-winning novel, which was also made into a hit 2012 film, is a world première production.

Also new to the line-up for 2019 is The Department of Distractions in the Crucible Studio, a co-production by Third Angel and Northern Stage in association with Sheffield Theatres.

Tickets for all newly-announced productions will go on general sale on Saturday, October 27 at 10am.
