Colleagues from Asda’s Handsworth branch are preparing for a 16-mile sponsored walk in support of the Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity’s Make it Better Day.

More than 20 Asda workers and volunteers will set off at 8am from Handsworth on Friday, June 28 , as part of the hospital’s city-wide fundraising day.

They will be met at Chapeltown at noon by the Children Hospital Charity’s mascot Theo the Bear.

The walkers will then continue their walk and finish at 5pm at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

Jo Birch, community colleague at Asda’s Handsworth store, said staff were looking forward to the walk.

She said: “I can’t wait!

“It’s a long way but will be a great day. Community colleagues as well as volunteers are taking part and people can donate along the route.

“We’re also collecting and fundraising in store at the moment.”

The Make it Better Day is the Children’s Hospital Charity’s biggest fundraising event to date and events will be taking place across Sheffield.
