A JIGSAW of funding for a new £3.5 million Sports Village in south east Sheffield is nearly completed.

The Sports Village is to be built on the former Westfield School site at Mosborough and the year-long construction project is on track to begin next August.

The final outstanding elements of the funding package are nearing completion, say Sheffield Council.

The new centre will host the County FA, eight grass pitches for football and rugby, a full-size 3G pitch with floodlights, eight five-a-side floodlit pitches, a 60-station health and fitness suite, changing facilities, physiotherapy clinic and consultation rooms, meeting and classrooms, car parking and catering facilities.

Councillor Isobel Bowler, said: “This new centre will give a major boost to sport.”
