A NEW-look South Yorkshire School Games will be launched for 2013 featuring nine new sports across five different venues in the region.
Trampolining, orienteering, judo and seated volleyball are just some of the sports set to debut at the 2013 Games following the success of this year’s inaugural event.
Pupils from Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley and Doncaster will also compete in golf, lacrosse, polybat, girls’ football and swimming - the other new sports added to the programme.
The event will be made up of two one-day action-packed festivals at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield on March 12, and at a venue to be confirmed in Barnsley on July 3.
The winter festival will see children compete in athletics, gymnastics, basketball, boccia, polybat, judo and seated volleyball. At the summer event, the youngsters will take part in rugby union, tennis, cricket, golf and lacrosse.
