Spooky twist to gift campaign will raise funds

A paranormal investigation will be amongst a host of festive fundraising activities to make sure children across South Yorkshire wake up to a gift on Christmas morning.

Mission Christmas, launched by Hallam FM Cash for Kids and backed by The Star, is an annual gift appeal for the most deprived children in the area.

Star readers have hit the high street, adding an extra gift to their Christmas shopping and more than 200 schools and businesses have registered as drop-off points for presents.

The deadline for donating gifts, Wednesday December 16, is fast approaching and fundraising events will help to raise more cash to fill the demand.

Last year’s record-breaking appeal resulted in Mission Christmas delivering Christmas gifts to 17,531 children in South Yorkshire.

More than 5,000 applications for gifts have been received this year.

Fundraising events will help raise cash to buy presents to fill any shortfall and the public can take part in a ghost hunt at Hallam FM to boost funds.

Businesses, schools and community groups are also helping out by holding raffles, taking part in a Christmas Jumper Day, and selling reindeer food.

The Hallam FM Ghost Hunt will take place on December 17 from 7pm-1am and you can book by visiting www.hallamfm.co.uk/charity/news/ghostnight
