A NEW pond has been created at a South Yorkshire wildlife park with the aim of giving young people with learning disabilities the chance to find out more about the world of horticulture.

Sheffield’s Beanstalk Gardens in Smallage Lane, Aston, is run by charity Autism Plus and has just officially opened the pond and an information board.

It has been created to allow youngsters with learning difficulties the chance to explore the local flora and fauna and develop their gardening skills.

The charity built the pond with a £6,948 grant from the People’s Postcode Lottery.
