Spirit of outdoors in books and more

The outdoors will be celebrated through literature, film, photography and children's activities at Sheffield's Central Library next month.

Organised by the council, the Outdoor City Adventure Book Festival will happen on June 3 and 4, offering free and ticketed events including talks from film-maker, writer and Everest climber Matt Dickinson, and a screening of the highlights from this year’s Sheffield Adventure Film Festival.

Libraries, archives and information manager Nick Partridge said: “We wanted to put on an event that really celebrates and feeds the enthusiasm for outdoor adventure that exists here in Sheffield.

“The activities will give people real insight into daring exploits in the wild, covering the Himalayas, Africa, Arctic and closer to home.”
