Speedway: Sheffield Tigers' Jason Garrity gunning for another play-off place
All-action racer Jason Garrity is aiming to kick on for the remainder of the season - by helping Sheffield to the play-offs for a second year running.
By his own admission, 2016 hasn’t been the easiest for the 22-year-old but he feels things are finally beginning to click into place.
The Manchester racer returned from injury with a nine point haul in last Thursday’s home win over Berwick before top scoring for the Sheffield Window Centre Tigers in their away defeat at Workington on Saturday.
The Owlerton outfit go head-to-head with the Comets once more tomorrow night and Garrity says Sheffield’s home form is going to be key.
“We’ve been going really well at home and we need to carry that on all season,” said Garrity.
“We’ve got a really good team with plenty of good riders and this club should be up there towards the top.
“We’ve had a pretty good start to the season overall and we just need to keep doing what we’ve been doing really.
“We want to get to those play-offs at the end of the season - and I want to play a big part in getting us there again.
“It’s been a tough year for me so far with a couple of knocks and things not quite going how I’d want them to - but the last week has been much better and hopefully I can get back in the big points on a regular basis now.
“I’ve started taking the pressure off me; I’m just trying to relax more and enjoy my racing and the more I do that the more it seems to help me.”
“I know I can get double figures most weeks, especially at home and hopefully we can all chip in against Workington.
“They’ll be a different side to race against with us as the home team but they’ve still got a few good riders so we’ll all need to be on it.
“We just want some more league points next to our name and we’ll be doing everything we can tomorrow.”
