The Tigers skipper has impressed GB boss Alun Rossiter so far this season and he will travel to Abensberg in Germany for the meeting on Monday.

Said Howarth: “I was really pleased when I was told about it and I really don’t know what to expect.

“I’m told Abensberg is a big and flat track, I’ll go there and simply give it my best shot.

“I’m feeling pretty good now, I’m getting over the injury I had and hopefully I’ll be even better by the time I get to Germany.

“I’m enjoying my speedway and there’s some big meetings to come with Sheffield, we need to keep winning at home.

“I’m not saying how far I can go in the qualifiers or how well I can do on Monday but all I’ll do is treat it like any other meeting and go out there and give it my very best shot.”

Sheffield Tigers don’t race until Saturday with no meeting at Owlerton on Thursday night.

They head to Berwick in Championship action and Howarth says the belief from last season’s title success is still very much evident in the Tigers camp.

“We all still feel we can do well and pull off the league title again, but it’s always tough,” said Howarth.

“There’s a good team spirit and I’m sure that helps us. Simon Stead is a great manager and we all stick together, I love it at Sheffield.”
