Speed checks in Barrow Hill

Have your say

RESIDENTS concerned about road safety issues are invited to help police officers check the speed of traffic in Chesterfield.

Officers from the Whittington and Barrow Hill Safer Neighbourhood Policing team have set up a Community Speed Watch scheme in Barrow Hill, where volunteers from the community will use a radar gun to help police check the speed of passing vehicles.

Registration numbers are noted of any vehicles found breaking the speed limit and a letter is then sent to the owner to advise them about the checks and asking them to respect local limits.

Motorists are warned that if they continue to speed, they risk getting a fine and that the data recorded by the scheme will help officers identify locations for speed detection equipment.
