Chris Kirkland, the Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper, reaches the grand old age of 34 today.

He will spend some of it in the Owls’ squad at Watford, this afternoon.

He shares his birthday with David Beckham, the former England captain and Manchester United star, who led the national team to the 2002 and 2006 World Cups; he was born 1975.
