Special constables praised for policing Chesterfield v Sheffield United derby

Special Constables have been thanked for helping to police the Chesterfield V Sheffield United football match.

A team of 16 specials took part in the operation, aimed at boosting police numbers on the streets, in and around the stadium.

A crowd of more than 9,400 fans attended the match at the Proact Stadium on Saturday, April 16, which ended in a three-nil win for the Blades.

Special Inspector Jason Pimborough said: “In my 10 years’ service with the Special Constabulary this has been the biggest team of special officers during a single policing operation in the Chesterfield area.

“I was incredibly pleased with the work of our Special Constabulary, who volunteered their time and worked tirelessly throughout the day to ensure that it was a success.”
