Arsonists struck three times overnight around South Yorkshire.

Firefighters spent 30 minutes tackling a blaze to a fence and hedge in Wingfield Road, Wingfield in Rotherham at 8pm yesterday.

They then had to put out a blaze inside a derelict building on Foundry Street, Elsecar in Barnsley. Three fire crews were called and spent half an hour at the scene.

And at 3.50am this morning, a skip fire started deliberately on a service road leading to the Asda store in Dalton kept firefighters busy for about 30 minutes.

A fire service spokesperson said all three were started deliberately.
