South Yorkshire teenage girl raped by man in hoodie near grass verge

A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man wearing a hoodie near a grass verge in Rotherham.

The terrified victim was walking along a grass verge next to a service road on The Lanes, near Badsley Moor Lane in Herringthorpe, when she was attacked by an unknown man.

The attacker is described as being 6ft tall and of slim build and was wearing a dark hooded top with a small green Nike symbol on the front.

Police have now stepped up patrols in the area to reassure the public following the incident on Friday, March 31, between 9.30pm and 10.30pm.

Temporary Detective Inspector Graham Stead said: “We would like to speak to anyone who has any information about the incident, as they may be able to assist with our enquiries.

“Extra patrols and high visibility officers have also been put in place to offer reassurance to the public and the local community.

“Anyone who has any information about the incident, or who may have in the area between 9.30-10.30pm on Friday evening is urged to contact us.”
