A MAN on trial accused of murdering a man by stabbing him nine times and slashing his face has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Gary McKeown, aged 37, knifed 36-year-old Philip Smith at his house on Church Street, Thurnscoe, in January.

Jurors at Sheffield Crown Court heard Philip staggered outside and died on the pavement from massive blood loss.

He denied murder, but admitted stabbing Philip in self-defence.

McKeown will be sentenced tomorrow.
