South Yorkshire sailors have helped raise more than £360,000 for charity after taking part in a global race.

Members of the Pennine Sailing Club, along with students from Sheffield’s two universities, took part in Bart’s Bash in September, along with more than 18,000 others around the world. The race was held in memory of Andrew ‘Bart’ Simpson, the Olympic gold medal sailor who died in May 2013, to support a charity sailing foundation set up in his memory. Organisers have now revealed £366,000 was raised from the event.
