South Yorkshire folk proved they really do have super powers after raising a whopping £23,759 during two weeks of superhero-themed funding.
The Hallam FM Cash for Kids Superhero Day campaign, backed by The Star, was a huge success – with businesses, community groups and families from all over the region getting involved.
On May 13, Hallam FM Broadcast a day-long auction as part of the drive. The auction featured such prizes as hotel breaks, restaurant vouchers and money-can’t-buy experiences including tickets to the Masters and the Monaco Grand Prix and signed celebrity goodies.
Thousands of people from schools and workplaces around South Yorkshire got dressed up and fundraised to help the cause.
The money raised will benefit sick and disadvantaged in the South Yorkshire region.
Allan Ogle, charity manager for Cash for Kids, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to every single person that shared, bid, texted, fundraised and donated to help make Superhero Day become a huge success.
“So many people went over and above, which is overwhelming.
“Kaye Orwin from Morfitt Smith did a skydive and Shaun Carroll is driving around eight European countries in a Superhero Car!”
