South Yorkshire residents urged not to be guilty of water waste

Residents in South Yorkshire have been urged not to waste water for fear of a return to drought conditions.

This time last year the country was suffering the most severe drought for 100 years - but that has been followed by one of the wettest summers on record.

Now Severn Trent Water, which serves areas of south Sheffield, are urging customers should not waste water.

Marcus O’Kane, water resources manager, said: “We ask our customers to be sensible with the amount of water they use because you never know when the next drought might be.”
