South Yorkshire Police seal off road after discovery of seriously injured man

A police probe is underway following the discovery of a seriously injured man in Rotherham.

The 19-year-old was found with serious head injuries close to the Stag roundabout, Wickersley, at 6.45am this morning.

Officers investigating the circumstances around his injuries have cordoned off part of Brecklands.

They believe he may have walked up Wickersley Road with a group of between three and six men before he sustained his injuries.

He is currently in a serious but stable condition in hospital.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "Detectives have launched an investigation after a 19-year-old man was seriously injured in Rotherham this morning."The man was found with serious head injuries close to the Stag Roundabout, Brecklands, at about 6.45am and was taken to hospital, where he currently remains in a serious but stable condition."Detective Sergeant John Dimberline said: “The area where this incident happened is a very busy part of town at that time of the morning and I would like to ask that anyone who saw of group of people, believed to be men, walking towards the roundabout, or who saw what happened, to contact us.“A scene has been identified at the location as we begin to investigate the exact circumstances of the incident and I’d ask that anyone with information comes forward.”Call South Yorkshire Police on 101.
