Police community support officers are holding a crime prevention stall in Barnsley this week to offer people advice on how to stay safe this Christmas.

Officers will be at Budgens in High Street, Dodworth, on Friday, December 16, from 3pm to 5pm handing out UV marker pens, purse bells and crime prevention leaflets.

A police spokesperson said: "UV marker pens can be used on any piece of property. You can write your postcode and your house number on, or your name and phone number so that if your property is stolen, police can identify it and return it to you.

"As the shops get busier due to Christmas shopping, pickpockets can also see this as a prime opportunity. Purse bells can deter them and also alert you to anyone trying to reach into your bag or pocket."
