South Yorkshire Police issue warning over pickpockets

They have warned of thieves looking for victims doing their Christmas shopping.

A force spokesman said: "If you’re out about doing some shopping make sure you but don't become a target for thieves.

"Never leave your bag or wallet unattended and if you have a bag, make sure all the zips are done up and the clasp is facing inwards.

"Keep your phone out of view and don't have it sticking out of your back pocket.

"Be aware of who is around you at cash points and be discreet with cash.

"Remember thieves don't need it gift wrapped. Don't make it easy for them."
