South Yorkshire Police crackdown on drivers using mobile phones
South Yorkshire police have put out extra patrols this week across Sheffield to catch drivers using mobile phones while driving.
The move is part of a country-wide campaign led by the National Police Chief's Council.
The campaign comes a month after a lorry driver was jailed for ten years for killing a mother and three children on the A34 in Berkshire.
He had been using his phone when he drove into stationary traffic.
In a tweet, South Yorkshire Police said: "We have extra patrols seeking out drivers using mobile phones at the wheel this week."
