South Yorkshire motorists have been warned to expect long delays on the M1 following a collision involving a lorry and a car.

Highways England said the collision occurred on the southbound stretch between junctions 30 and 29A for Barlborough and Duckmanton, north Derbyshire.

There are queues of four miles stretching back to junction 31 at Aston.

Two lanes of the motorway are closed while emergency services deal with the incident.

The roof of one of the vehicles has had to be removed.
