South Yorkshire motorists urged to be prepared for unexpected

Motorists are being urged to slow down on the roads during the wintry weather.

The South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership is warning that with snow, ice and spray on the roads motorists should be prepared for the unexpected.

It is also urging drivers to make sure their vehicles are fully serviced and tyres have a good tread depth before setting out on winter journeys.

Joanne Wehrle, the Partnership’s Safer Roads Education Manager, said: “We need to adapt the way we drive during winter and be prepared for journeys that may take us through varied weather, road and traffic conditions.

“Only travel at a speed at which you can stop within the distance you can see to be clear. Drivers should allow extra time for journeys.”
