A South Yorkshire man killed in a crash was to become a grandad for the first time.

Peter Heard, aged 65, died following a collision in Worry Goose Lane, Whiston, Rotherham, last month.

He was riding a yellow Honda motorbike which was involved in a crash with a silver Vauxhall Zafira car near to the junction with Greystones Road.

A statement issued by his family today said: "Peter was a loving family man, with two sons and a daughter. He was also expecting his first grandchild in May this year.

“He lived in Rotherham all his life, working locally and he recently retired from his job as a HGV driver.

“He loved his motorcycle and enjoyed working on it and riding it in his spare time, as well as enjoying quiet evenings out with his loved ones.

“He will be greatly missed by us all."

Witnesses should call South Yorkshire Police on 101.
