Tributes have been paid to a young South Yorkshire woman who died on holiday in Mexico.
Lauren Carroll, aged 19, was among a large party which had travelled to the holiday coastal resort of Cancun for a wedding.
But she reportedly complained of feeling unwell last Wednesday, and was later found dead in her holiday apartment.
Coroners officers have been informed of the death.
Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the sudden death are underway.
A post mortem examination was carried out in Mexico and Lauren’s body has been flown back to Britain.
The cause of death has not yet been revealed.
A Foreign Office spokesman confirmed: “We are aware of the death of a British national on May 14.
“We are providing consulate assistance to the family at this difficult time.”
Heartbroken friends have paid tribute to Lauren, of Rose Grove, Wombwell, Barnsley, on Facebook.
Diane Dent, from Wombwell, wrote: “So sad, she will be missed. Can’t believe it - such a lovely young lady. It’s a cruel world.”
Lisa Bristow described the tragedy as ‘heartbreaking’.
And John Paul Prosser said it was ‘devastating’.
Darren George Vaughen described Lauren as ‘such a sweet young lady’.
And Jason Hendley, from Rotherham, added: “Will miss you Lauren. Fly high with the angels, love.”
Joanne Haigh said she ‘can’t imagine’ the pain Lauren’s family feels.
