South Yorkshire fire service at royal garden party

Representatives from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue were guests at a right royal event.

Four lucky members of staff and volunteers were invited to attend a garden party hosted by the Prince of Wales to mark 40 year ofHis Royal Highness’s charity The Prince’s Trust.

There were Prince’s Trust representatives, delivery partners and celebrity ambassadors in attendance including Nicola Hobbs, Spencer Rowland, Rhian Oxley and John Daley attended on behalf of South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue (SYFR).

The Prince’s Trust is a charity in the United Kingdom founded in 1976 by Charles, Prince of Wales, and Frederick John Pervin to help young people.

They work in partnership with a variety of public services and small businesses to offer opportunities to those in need.

As they approach their 40th anniversary, they have helped almost 825 000 youngsters across the UK.

Representatives from SYFR’s Community Safety team attended alongside the Prince’s Trust team leaders.

So far SYFR have ran one Prince’s Trust Programme, and are in the process of running the second.

The programme is a 12 week personal development course for unemployed 16 – 25 yea- olds, offering work e-perience, qualifications, practical skills, community projects and a residential week.

SYFR team programme leader John Daley said; “It’s a great honour working with the young people on the Prince’s Trust Programme.

“We see them flourish throughout the programme – the sense of achievement they experience allows them to grow with confidence and develop ambition.

“It is an entirely unique role and one I take great pride in - to attend this event and be in the presence of His Royal Highness is a huge privilege and I am very grateful for the opportunity.”
