South Yorkshire firefighters were called out to deal with three small fires – two started deliberately.

Aston Park firefighters were called out to deal with a rubbish fire in Leicester Drive, Dinnington.

The blaze, at 8.15pm yesterday, is believed to have been started deliberately on open land.

Then at 9pm Elm Lane fire crews were called out to Deep Lane in Shiregreen, after rubbish was set alight in woodland.

The fire was started deliberately and crews put out the flames using water backpacks, a fire service spokeswoman said.

Crews from Tanksersley and Barnsley stations were called to a shed fire in Shaftesbury Drive, Hoyland.

They were called today at 12.45am and spent 20 minutes there.
