South Yorkshire diver dies in North Sea tragedy

A SOUTH YORKSHIRE diver has died while working in the North Sea.

Russell Robinson died on board the Balmoral floating production vessel, about 140 miles north east of Aberdeen.

The 33-year-old, of Barnsley, South Yorkshire, was employed by Integrated Subsea Services. The Health and Safety Executive has been informed.

Ian Herd, managing director of ISS, said: “This is a tragic situation and our thoughts go out to Russell’s family, his friends and colleagues.”

Mr Robinson was one of a team of three divers carrying out a “routine diving operation”.
