The mum of a three-year-old girl mown down by a group of callous motorbike riders says her injured daughter has been left ‘traumatised’ by her ordeal - as police issue a fresh appeal for witnesses.
Jessica Pollard’s daughter Olivia was left for dead in a pool of blood by a trio of off-road motorcyclists who crashed into her on Ridgeway, East Herringthorpe.
The toddler was hit while crossing the road with her mother Jessica, aged 20, after getting off a bus from a shopping trip at around 3pm last Wednesday.
She was catapulted into the air, landing in a heap in the middle of the road as the bike riders sped away.
Jessica said: “Every time I look at my daughter it breaks my heart. It all happened so quickly, so I didn’t have time to grab her.”
The mum added: “She’s been left traumatised. Her body is covered in cuts and bruises and she just keeps crying. I’m begging anyone who might know who did it to contact the police. Justice needs to be done.”
Olivia suffered a fractured skull but is now ‘up and about’ at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
Police are analysing CCTV footage, and are asking locals to help name the culprits. Call 101 with information.
