The judging of entries will take place on Saturday February 6 in St Andrew’s Church Hall, High Street, Penistone from 11.30am to 1.30pm. when the results of the Hogwatch survey in 2015 and plans for 2016 will be

presented. Entries can be delivered to Penistone Library on Friday February 5.

Peter Roberts, Chair of Barnsley Biodiversity Trust explained: “Hogwatch has been a great success in 2015 and we are building a detailed picture of where hedgehogs are thriving in our area and where numbers are low. We need more information so we can develop a realistic conservation plan for the area to improve habitats for hedgehogs and this could involve re-introductions in the areas best suited for them.”

The Hogwatch launch will help the organisers Barnsley Biodiversity Trust and Penistone Friends of the Earth to recruit hedgehog watchers who will again be asked to records all sightings of hedgehogs (or not) throughout 2016.
