South Yorkshire bus driver wins top award for safe driving

A South Yorkshire bus driver has been named as the safest in the country at a national transport industry awards event.

Bob Pitts, from Stagecoach’s depot in Barnsley, won the Road Operators Safety Council’s Safe Driver of the Year award in recognition of 37 years of safe driving around the county.

Bob, from Mapplewell, Barnsley, said: “I’m honoured to receive this award. I take pride in operating safe and reliable services for Stagecoach and doing a great job for my customers.”

Paul Lynch, Stagecoach Yorkshire’s managing director, said: “Bob is a real asset to Stagecoach and an extremely worthy winner of the ROSCO Safe Driver of the Year award.

“Every member of our valued team continues to work hard to further improve bus services for our customer’s day in, day out.”
