Sooty

At 20 years old, this elderly lady is looking for a loving home where she can spend her golden years.

The black domestic shorthair came to Sheffield Animal Centre last month after her owner sadly passes away and, after a much-needed groom and a trip to the dentist, Sooty is feeling much more relaxed and ready to find her retirement home.

RSPCA Sheffield spokesman Adam Spencer said: “Sooty is an adorable lady, who likes to hide away and snooze. She can be a little shy until she gets to know you, but once she’s settled in, she enjoys some gentle fuss and attention in her cozy bed, occasionally emerging for a wander if she`s feeling energetic.

“Sooty has a condition called Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, which affects a cat’s immune system. For this reason she is looking to live an indoor-only lifestyle, where she can be the only cat in the household. There is no reason why she can`t live just as happy a life as any other cat, she will just need to be closely monitored and have regular check ups so she can be kept happy and healthy.

“Due to her age and a love of the quiet life, Sooty would me more suited to a home with older children (if any), where she can have the peaceful life she desires. Could this senior sweetheart be the companion for you?”
