Soldiers will parade through Barnsley on Thursday as the 3rd Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment exercises its Freedom of the Borough.
A parade of 120 troops, accompanied by a military band of 30 musicians and a nine-strong colour party, will form up outside the town hall for inspection, before parading through the main the town centre.
A Barnsley Council spokesman said: “Once again Barnsley people are urged to come along to show their thanks and support for the work of one of ‘our’ regiments.
“Barnsley is fiercely proud of its military links and we urge people from across the borough to dig out those union flags and welcome our brave and loyal troops.
“Motorists are advised that there will be a number of temporary road closures in Barnsley town centre on the day of the freedom parade, between mid-morning and early afternoon.
“Road closures will be advertised well in advance and drivers will be advised to plan their journeys accordingly.
