AN EX-PROFESSIONAL football player has set up soccer trials for youth team players rejected from first teams in the area.
James Lomas, 33, who played for Chesterfield FC in 1999-2000, had to give up his professional career after a knee injury.
He said: “My career was cut short, so I wanted to help out others who might have a chance.
“Scouts will be at the games, and I want to try and get players back into football and kick-start their dream.”
The first trial is on Sunday, July 17, and James hopes to attract hundreds of promising players aged between 16 and 18.
James said: “Hopefully we can get the players trialled at professional clubs so they can get back into the sport at a professional level.”
