SNOW WARNING: Met Office warns Sheffield will be hit by hours of heavy snow tomorrow

Heavy snow showers have been forecast for Sheffield on Friday with freezing conditions set to continue into this weekend.

Sleet showers are set to gradually turn to light snow overnight before heavier downpours between 10am and 5pm alongside winds.

More sleet showers are then expected for a short time before another cold night, with temperatures dropping to zero and feeling as low as minus three degrees.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice across large parts of England, including South Yorkshire, which will remain in place until Saturday.

Sunny intervals are forecast for Saturday in Sheffield but it will still feel cold with the temperature just above freezing during the evening.

Temperatures will increase a little on Sunday to between four and six degrees throughout the day and slightly warmer weather is predicted next week, with no snowfall expected at this stage.
