SNOW UPDATE: What to do if your bin has not been emptied this week in Sheffield

The snow and ice dumped on Sheffield this week by the so-called Beast from the East have played havoc with waste and recycling collections around the city.

As weather conditions begin to settle down, kerbside collections are beginning to get back on track, but many households are still waiting for their bins to be emptied.

It issued the following advice for householders:

* If your collection did not take place on Wednesday or Thursday, please leave your bin/box out, where safe to do so, until it has been emptied

Waste collections in the city had been delayed yesterday due to safety concerns.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused. We will continue to review conditions and will keep you updated via our website," said Veolia.
