Snow and a motorway pile-up are causing misery for motorists in South Yorkshire and Derbyshire this morning.

The Snake Pass is closed between the Ladybower Reservoir and Glossop because of snow overnight and three lanes of the M1 are blocked because of a multi-vehicle collision.

Highways England said three lanes of the southbound stretch of the M1 are closed between junctions 31 and 30 - Aston and Barlborough.

The crash is believed to have involved a lorry and two cars.

It is causing delays of around 30 minutes.

The Snake Pass is not expected to re-open this morning because of the amount of snow which has fallen but other high routes including the A6024 Holme Moss and the Woodhead Pass passable with care.
