Snow affects buses in parts of Sheffield this morning

Snow is affecting some bus services in Sheffield this morning, with some cancelled and others diverted.

First South Yorkshire said most of its services are operating as normal but the 83 and 83b are unable to use Greystones Road, Greystones.

The firm said 'inclement weather and road conditions' had resulted in services being diverted via Ecclesall Road and terminating at Knowle Lane.

Its 120 service is unable to operate via Crimicar Lane, Fulwood, and will be terminating at Ranmoor.

And its 81 and 82 services will not serve Stannington, and will terminate at Malin Bridge.

The 8 and 8a services are unable to serve the Basegreen estate and are being diverted via Birley Moor Road, between Hollinsend Road and Sheffield Road in both directions

The 83 and 83b services is unable to serve Firshill Crescent, with buses diverted via Pitsmoor Road, Rutland Road and Cooks Wood Road.

A First spokesman said: "Winter has returned with some snowfall this morning which has fallen steadily and heavily for a couple of hours now.

"Unfortunately, conditions are such that a few services on higher ground, or with steep hills and gradients have quickly become unsafe to operate.

"Other services currently running normally, but with the likelihood of some delays in the morning peak due to weather conditions and road conditions.

"If you are going out this morning, please remember it is cold and pavements may be slippery. Please wrap up warm and leave a little extra time to make sure you get around safely."
