Snooker record

Have your say

TICKETS for this year’s World Snooker Championships have been selling at record levels, according to organisers, with some Crucible sessions already completely sold out.

The last four days of the Sheffield tournament, which runs from April 16 to May 2, are fully booked, with sales up 15 per cent on last year.

For the first time ever, all snooker fans were able to book tickets online and over the phone, rather than by post.

Australian Neil Robertson will defend his World Champion title against players including Ronnie O’Sullivan, Stephen Hendry, John Higgins and Sheffield-based Ding Junhui, competing for the £250,000 top prize.

Barry Hearn, World Snooker chairman, said: “The atmosphere at The Crucible really is one of the most magical anywhere in the world.

“This really is an event not to be missed.”
