TWO taxi drivers caught smoking in their vehicles have been fined by magistrates.
Chesterfield Council prosecuted the cases after the offending drivers were spotted by officials.
John Melvin Green, aged 43, of Foljambe Road, Chesterfield town centre, was seen smoking inside a hackney carriage as he drove along Saltergate and Durrant Road, Chesterfield.
Steven Potter, also 43, of Handley Road, New Whittington, was caught smoking inside a private hire vehicle on Corporation Street, Chesterfield.
North East Derbyshire and Dales Magistrates fined Green and Potter £50 each and ordered them to pay costs of £50 each to the council.
They were also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £15 each.
