LLOYD'S Charities Trust, the chemist's charitable arm, is launching a new partnership with the Samaritans to develop a project to help protect young people from the risks of suicide and self-harm.

The three-year project will enable Samaritans to develop a suicide and self-harm 'toolkit' for use by schools in the aftermath of a suicide or attempted suicide or if there have been cases of self-harm.

The urgent need for this initiative was sadly highlighted by the recent tragic suicides of three teenage classmates from Northern Ireland.

The project will also see Samaritans develop a new self-harm training programme which will equip teachers, parents, GPs, social workers and youth workers with extra knowledge and skills.
