A burglar who targeted the home of a Sheffield professional boxer has been jailed for three-and-a-half years.

Dave Fidler, from Shiregreen, a professional light middleweight fighter said he was pleased to see the offender sent to prison after he was caught on his home’s CCTV system.

Robert James Kenny, aged 30, of Huntinglow Road, Firth Park, burgled Mr Fidler on July 1 but was caught on camera.

Mr Fidler said: “My daughter came home from school and found they had smashed the back door in.

“They took the PlayStation, Xbox, mobile phones and some games. The patio doors were completely smashed in.

“They went through everything in the house, the place was absolutely ransacked.

“It’s horrible knowing someone has been through all your stuff.

“I have since had extra security put in.”

Kenny was jailed for three years and six months at Sheffield Crown Court.

“I’m really pleased with the sentence. I thought he would get about 18 months, but that is a pretty good result,” added Mr Fidler.
