Skate park in summer finale

EXTREME sports fans will be out in force at Sprotbrough skate park, Anchorage Lane, on Sunday September 23, for the park's last event of the summer.

The day will feature competitions for skateboarders, BMXers and rollerbladers and Doncaster riders will get the rare opportunity to use a vertical halfback ramp.

The event starts at 12noon and runs until 5pm.

Admission is free and everyone is welcome, but under-16s must have a disclaimer signed by their parents if they want to take part.

CHOCOLATE lovers in a Doncaster village will be cancelling all other engagements to make sure they don’t miss out on a fix next week.

The Ladybirds Playgroup in Misterton is holding another ‘chocolate indulgence’ evening next Friday September 28, in the Church Room.

As well as chocolate fountains there will be a glass of bubbly on arrival, hand massages, and a free gift, all for 4.50.

A quiz and raffle will also help raise funds for the playgroup.

VILLAGE shopkeepers have just over a fortnight to enter awards run by The Countryside Alliance. The closing date for the third annual Best Rural Retailer competition, which aims to recognise the UK’s small independent shops, is October 6.

Charity event

DONCASTER Cancer Detection Trust hosts a fundraising sherry morning in the Mansion House Parlour on Friday from 10.30am to 12noon. Tickets on the door cost 5 including a glass of sherry and nibbles, and the chance to win a bottle of champagne.

Liam in top 10

HAYFIELD School sixth former Liam Jones scored among the top 10 highest marks in the country for his GCSE business studies and economics exam. The test was taken by more than 3,400 other candidates.
