Sir David Attenborough to appear at Sheffield Doc/Fest

Sir David Attenborough, known for Planet Earth, Micro Monsters and Africa on the BBC, is to appear as a guest speaker at Sheffield Doc/Fest on Monday, June 13.

The naturalist and TV icon will make his Doc/Fest debut discussing his long illustrious career and give his views on the future of television and the wider media.

Liz McIntyre, Sheffield Doc/Fest CEO & festival director, said: “The festival is honoured to be welcoming Sir David to Sheffield.

“He is a giant of the documentary world, whose natural history adventures and films are epic, groundbreaking and a feast for the eyes and mind.

“Across the broadcasting world his contribution spanning 64 years continues to be extraordinary and an inspiration to new film-makers around the world.”

In a career spanning more than six decades, Sir David oversaw the introduction of colour television to Britain and in 1969, he was responsible for clearing the BBC schedule for the moon landing.

Sheffield Doc/Fest welcomes more than 30,000 documentary-makers and lovers each year, including 3,500 industry delegates from more than 60 countries.

The festival will take place from June 10 to 15.

Sir David Attenborough in Conversation will be at the Crucible Theatre from 3.30pm to 4.45pm. Tickets are priced from £15 to £18.
