Sir Cliff Richard's family hit out at star's police treatment

Sir Cliff was in Portugal in August 2014 when the BBC broadcast live footage of South Yorkshire Police raiding his home in Berkshire.

Speaking about the case, Sir Cliff’s cousin Ken Staynor, aged 88, said: “I know he is incapable of doing what is claimed.

“I feel it is time we stood up for him. He must know not only his close friends but his close relations are telling the police to let my cousin get on with his life in peace.”

The star has previously described the allegations against him, that he abused a teenage boy in 1985, as ‘absurd and untrue’.
